OTMA's
BEGINNING
One Tree Martial Arts began in 1999 when Master Buchholz
began teaching several students privately at his home
in
western Wisconsin. Master Buchholz was convinced that
many in the Christian community, although they realized
the many benefits of martial arts’ training,
were reluctant to train because of the eastern religious
philosophies that are stereotypically associated with
most of the martial arts. It was after this realization
that Master Buchholz committed himself to training
his students quality martial arts with a strong foundation
of Biblical Christian character training. As a result,
One Tree Martial Arts was born. Since that time, hundreds
of students have had martial arts’ “training
from a Christian perspective”.

OTMA's
MISSION
One Tree Martial Arts' mission is to make the martial
arts not only spiritually safe for Christians and
their families, but to make training in the martial
arts spiritually profitable for them as well. This
is accomplished by strengthening all aspects of Christian
character and setting the goal of becoming a biblical
servant to people and the community.

ONE
TREE'S INSTRUCTORS
One Tree's instructors are all black belts
who have not only shown proficiency in the martial
arts but also in the ability to teach martial arts
techniques and concepts. Our instructors are required
to go through a rigorous instructor training phase
including supervised teaching and team teaching. Every
instructor at One Tree is also CPR and First Aid certified.

MASTER
JEREMY BUCHHOLZ
Master Buchholz, our school's founder, was born
and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He has
studied many martial arts beginning his training
with the Korean arts of Taekwondo and Hapkido.
He has also trained in the Northern Shaolin,
Southern Hung Gar and Wing Chun Kungfu styles
as well as Tai-Chi, Shuri-Ryu, Jui-Jitsu, Kobudo
and others.
Master
Buchholz has worked as a peace officer in Colorado
and is currently an officer in Wisconsin. He
studied police and military defensive tactics.
On the street he has put these tactics along
with his martial arts techniques to the test
and found them to be very effective.
In
the past Master Buchholz has also worked extensively
with inner city youth and juvenile delinquents
and their families in Wisconsin, Indiana and
Colorado. He has received several awards for
his work including recognition from the Honorable
Judge Payne of the Marion County (Indianapolis)
Juvenile Court System.

Master Buchholz also spent time in Moscow Russia working
with youth as well as teachers, work for which he
received three United States Congressional Records.
In
1998, Master Buchholz returned to Western Wisconsin
and began One Tree Martial Arts, an organization dedicated
to teaching Christian people martial arts and how
to use their skills to minister to others.
Since
that time One Tree Martial Arts (OTMA) has grown to
become a major learning center for the martial arts
with programs in the Korean, Japanese and Chinese
arts.
Master
Buchholz' philosophy of teaching is to exhaust his
knowledge of martial arts to any student who has a
desire to learn and to diligently apply him or herself
to their study. He is dedicated to teaching these
arts based on a strong foundation of positive character
to ensure that the student will always use his or
her skills in a proper way.
Master
Buchholz encourages anyone who has even the slightest
interest in any aspect of the martial arts to inquire
about training at one of OTMA's schools. The rewards
will always be greater than anticipated.

DO
I NEED TO BE A CHRISTIAN TO TRAIN AT OTMA?
No you do not, however you do need to realize that
OTMA is built upon principles and character taught
in the Bible and that OTMA's instructors are Christians.
We will reference and even have students memorize
passages that speak to issues that a martial artist
needs to understand.
